Mentor / Mentee
The goal of the ‘Mentor & Mentee’ program is to help the confirmation students develop
Christian mentoring relationships with various adult volunteers in the congregation.
It began years ago after learning about the Search Institutes study on developmental
assets. The Developmental Assets are 40 common sense, positive experiences and qualities
that help influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible
adults. One of these assets: "Other Adult Relationships - Young person receives
support from three or more nonparent adults" jumped out at the team at Family of
Christ as something they could help with.

M & M Nights happen about once a month as part of the confirmation program. 7th grade
students are matched with High School mentors, 8th and 9th grade youth are put into small
groups with adult mentors and they all meet for games and discussions that all help to
create the bond of trust and friendship.
